CAPTION: The Rev. Vincent Lee James, a missionary to Chile, was a special speaker at Onaway Methodist Church. He had been serving in Chile for four years. In other Onaway News, Onaway High School debaters won eight of eight debates in 1967. Their record enabled them to participate in the district-elimination tournament in Petoskey. In four contests against Petoskey, Cadillac, Elk Rapids and Harbor Springs, the varsity debate team, comprised of Elayne Linder, Peg McAtee (negative squad) and sophomore Linda Pregitzer and Susan Lyons (affirmative squad), won a plaque provided by the University of Michigan and the Detroit Free Press. The plaque was engraved for excellence in debate.
