Saint Dominic Catholic Cemetery Established 1901 Saint Dominic Parish was originally located at this location in 1901 By Polish and German immigrants who settled in this area. The majority of whom worked in the forestry and farming industries. The idea to establish a Catholic parish originated in 1897 under the leadership and its first pastor, Fr. Godfrey Lenzen. There were originally 200 known burials at this cemetery including victims of the Great Metz Fire of 1908. In 1931 a new church was built in the village of Metz some two miles northeast of here. A new cemetery was also established at that location. We dedicate this memorial plaque to all our ancestors who rest here. May they rest in peace.
