Sanilac County Photo Album

Henry Rich, who married Nancy Meddaugh, daughter of John Washington Meddaugh.  I have seen information that she married a John E. Sly, after her sister Rosella had died in 1899.  Rosella had married John E. Sly, and I see information that proves that.  I have no information about either marriage for Nancy, except the pictures in my grandfather's photo album.  In that album, Henry Rich is indicated to be Nancy's husband.  Nancy is buried in the Croswell Cemetery.

These folks are my grandfather's grandparents, on his father's side.  My grandfather is Louis Elmer Meddaugh, son of John Washington Meddaugh, and these are Nancy Udell (called Betsy in my photo album, I believe in error) and Robert Meddaugh.  They are buried in the Croswell Cemetery.

This is a picture of one of Louis Elmer Meddaugh's sisters, Nancy Meddaugh Rich.  She was married to Henry Rich in the Croswell area.  She is buried in Croswell Cemetery.  She was purported to have married John E. Sly, after her sister Rosella (John Sly's first wife) died in 1899.  I find no evidence of that marriage, but will continue to search for information on it.  She and Louis were the children of John Washington Meddaugh and Mary Thibaudeau Meddaugh, who lived on 160 acres in the Croswell area.

Lucinda (Lucy) Meddaugh Huckins, sister of Louis Elmer Meddaugh, and daughter of John Washington Meddaugh of Croswell.  This picture was taken in Flint, Michigan, where it seems that some of the Sanilac Meddaughs moved.  An older picture in my album of her and her husband was taken in Oscoda, where Meddaughs also moved.

This is a picture, probably taken in the 30's, of some of the Meddaugh clan in Croswell.  They had all moved to the Alpena area, and were visiting Croswell.  From left to right, we have Mary Eleanor Parker Meddaugh (take note of that hat!), her mother, Suzannah Mary Thornton Parker Mullon, Louis Elmer Meddaugh, my mother Mary Margaretta Meddaugh (daugher of Louis & Mary), Mae Meddaugh (wife of Johnny Meddaugh, their son) and her son, Jimmy Meddaugh.

This is a picture of Henry Middleton, his wife and his sister.  I do not know which woman is which, nor do I know their relationship to the Meddaugh clan, but since this great picture was in my Meddaugh album, I'm including it here, hoping that someone may know who they are, and how they may be related to any Meddaugh women or men.  If you know, please contact me at the name link below.  This picture is on a tintype.

This is a picture of Margaret “Minnie” Thibado Yakes, the mother of Arthur Yakes, my grandfather's cousin.  The picture in my album labels her "Margaret Thibaudeau Yakes".  She is the daughter of Margaret Middaugh and Peter Thibado.  She was born about 1828 in Ontario, Canada.  She married William Yakes.  She was found in the 1860 census in Worth Township in Sanilac county, with 8 of their 13 children.  Their son Arthur was born June 7, 1870 in Dryden, Lapeer, Michigan.  (Her husband William was born February 26, 1824 in Ontario, Canada, and died in Sanilac February 29, 1896.)  The picture was taken in Ludington, Michigan, almost straight across the entire state from Port Huron.
