LEE, PHILIPS, PHILLIPS posted by Gary Lee Phillips on Tuesday, October 29, 1996
PHILLIPS / PHILIPS ; Michigan ; late 1800s. Andrew James PHILIPS (b. 25 Apr 1870 in Brockway, St. Clair Co.; d. 07 May 1931 at Pontiac, Oakland Co.) was the son of Abraham PHILIPS, a farmer in Brockway, and his wife Betsey (probably Elizabeth) according to Michigan birth certificate. Abraham was born in Canada, Betsey in Ireland. No maiden name given for Betsey. Andrew left home at about age 12, and resurfaced in about 1892 as a journeyman carpenter, when he married Mary J. LEE (b. 12 May 1872 at Pontiac, Oakland Co.; d. 15 Apr 1961 at Farmington, Oakland Co.) and was then using the name James Andrew PHILLIPS. Seeking any information about his parents Abraham and Betsy, ancestors or other descendants. Also would like to track James Andrew's activities 1880-1892 if possible (presumably apprenticed as a carpenter, possibly in Port Huron or another ship-building location.) Any and all information or suggestions welcome
