JEROME G. “JAKE” ESSENMACHER 

June11, 1933 - April 23, 2013



 

Jerome Essenmacher

Jerome G. “Jake” Essenmacher, age 79, a resident of Carsonville passed away on 
Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at Lakeshore AFC , Lexington, Michigan.  He was born 
June 11, 1933 in Harbor Beach, the son of the late George and Clara (Oswald) 
Essenmacher.  He married Norma H. Booms on September 17, 1955 in Helena.

Jake was a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Army.  He was a Sanilac Twp. farmer 
and a former Sanilac Twp. Clerk.  He served on the Sanilac County Road 
Commission and was a former Road Commissioner.  Jake was a 4th Degree member of 
K of C Council #4693 and St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sandusky.  He was a member 
of V.F.W. Post #8872, Port Sanilac.  Jake was a loving husband, father, 
grandfather and great grandfather.



Surviving are his wife Norma of Carsonville; sons, Jerome (Patti) of Tecumseh, 
Andrew (Dawn) of Concord, Timothy (Paula) of Bloomingdale and Philip (Kelly) of 
Lexington; daughters, Catherine (Gary) Comfort of Adrian and Margie Bhatt of 
Mt. Pleasant, Texas; seventeen grandchildren and five great grandchildren; 
sisters Genevieve Wrubel of Howell and Joyce (Jack) Geiger of Bad Axe; sister-
in-law, Patricia Essenmacher of Port Austin; brothers-in-law and sisters in-
law, Eleanor Booms, Herbert (Patricia) Booms, Alvin Booms, George (Arlene) 
Booms, Marie (Joseph) Kannikal and Daniel (Marge) Booms; and many nieces, 
nephews and friends.



He was preceded in death by a son, Steven; brothers, Melvin, Albert, Richard 
and Floyd; brothers-in-law, Floyd and Clifford Booms and sister-in-law, Audrey 
Booms.



Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sandusky 
with Fr. Charles Hammond who officiated. Burial was in New St. Mary Cemetery, 
Carsonville.  Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or United 
Hospice.  Arrangements by Pomeroy Funeral Homes, Croswell.
