Alex J. Grifka    
November 5, 1914 – October 3, 1976
SNOVER – Alex J. Grifka, 61, Austin Township, died Sunday in Hills and Dales 
General Hospital, Cass City, after a long Illness.  He was born November 5, 
1914, in Austin Township, where he was a lifelong resident.  He married Olive 
Stepka September 5, 1942, in Freiburg.  Mr. Grifka farmed in Austin Township.  
He was employed by the Denton Road Construction Co. for 20 years.

He is survived by his wife; eight sons, Tony Grifka, Ubly, William Grifka, 
Chelsea, Richard Grifka, Warren, James Grifka, Saginaw, and Ron, Lee, Allan and 
Thomas Grifka, all of Snover; three daughters, Mrs. Ray Muma, Marlette, and 
Anna and Mae Grifka, both of Snover; 19 grandchildren; three brothers, Lloyd 
and Cass Grifka, both of Ubly, and John Grifka, Warren; and six sisters, Mrs. 
Alex Particka and Mrs. Theresa Taylor, both of Ubly, Mrs. Chester Leppek, 
Harbor Beach, Mrs. Alger Horetski, Port Austin, Mrs. Frank Taylor, Ironton, 
Ohio and Gladys Grifka, Grand Rapids.

Services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St, Ignatius Catholic Church, 
Freiburg.  The Rev Gerald Kukla, pastor, will officiate.  Burial will be in the 
church cemetery.  The remains will be in Zinger Funeral Home, Ubly, after 7 
p.m. today.  Prayer services will be held Tuesday at 7:45 p.m. in the funeral
