Klee, 86, of Ruth, passed away Friday evening, July 20, 2007 at Courtney Manor Nursing Center in Bad Axe. Lawrence was born on March 30, 1921 in Harbor Beach to the late Frank J. and Rose (Lautner) Klee. He married Marie Clor on April 30, 1949 at St. John Catholic Church in Forestville. Lawrence was a graduate of a country school. He worked for the Michigan Peat Company part-time for many years. Lawrence served in the 94th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theatre in the "Battle of the Bulge". He was a lifelong member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ruth. He was also a lifelong member of the Parisville VFW Post #5740. Lawrence enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, woodworking and traveling worldwide. Lawrence is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marie; six daughters, Lauretta (Ken) Roberts of Minden City, Mildred (Paul) King of Kingston, Pauline (Jerry) Long of Ubly, Alice Gorkowski of Bad Axe, Sheila (Kerry) Grifka of Ubly, Sharon (Tom) Murray of Ubly; seven sons, Kenneth (Mary) of Chesterfield, Dennis (Bonnie) Ruth, Harvey (Annette) of Ruth, Ernest of Ruth, Timothy (Laura) of Ubly, Irvin (Cheryl) of Ubly, Earl of Ruth; 31 grandchildren; 2 great- grandchildren; one brother, Leo Klee of Ruth; one sister, Dorothy Oswald of Ruth. Lawrence was preceded in death by one grandson, Paul Oswald; one daughter-in- law, Cathy Klee; seven brothers, Charles, Marcus, Frank, Edward, George, and infants, Wilfred and Clarence; three sisters, Mary Booms, Helen Nichel, and Irene Dore. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ruth. The Rev. David Przedwiecki will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery will military honors. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home from 6 to 9 p.m. on Monday, from 1 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday. There will be a parish vigil service at 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening by Fr. Pare at the funeral home.
