Excerpts from Ionia Obituary

MICHAEL EDWARD ALTHOFF

Died June 16, 2026-age 51 of Ionia.
Born March 13, 1975 in Jackson,MI, son of Norman E. Althoff & Mary M.(Sampson) 
Izzard.
Graduated from Ionia High School in Class of 1994.
He owned & operated Althoff and Sons, specializing in tile & concrete work.
Michael was an avid RC car enthusiast & the proud owner of the Krater Dirt Oval 
RC Raceway.
He spent hours building & tuning his cars, racing laps & sharing his extensive 
knowledge of his hobby. The number "5" appeared on all of his race cars, 
symbolizing his deep love he had for his five children.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, BMX racing, & was loyal to University of Michigan 
sports.
He especially loved time with his sons at his grandfather's hunting camp in the 
Upper Peninsula alongside his father, Brent & cousins.
His beloved dog, Jackie ws his companion often exploring nature at Bertha Brock 
Park.
Michael raised his five children as a single father.
Survived by his children, Kelsey (Jeffrey) Brimmer of Greenville, Bryce 
(Brittany Woodman) Althoff of Ionia, MiKayla Althoff of Grand Rapids, Keyton 
Althoff of Grand Rapids, & Kameron Althoff of Grand Rapids, his parents, Mary & 
Brent Izzard of Ionia, his grandchildren, Emersyn Brimmer, Rhett Brimmer, Kayden 
and one expected  grandchild, his siblings, Seth Izzard & fiancee Lindsey 
Garcia, Amy Lynn Cornwell, Thomas (Angela) Althoff, his nephew, Zion Harris; his 
niece Alivia Althoff and his grandparents,Charlie & Margaret Izzard plus other 
extende family members.
Preceded in death by his biological father, Norman E. Althoff, his grandparents, 
Gloria & Donald Sampson and one grandchild.
Cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of life will be held at the Krater Raceway, 191 N. Strong 
Road,Ionia on Sunday, June 28, from 3 to 6 pm.
