Lake Odessa Wave - Friday  March 3, 1905

WILLIAM BADGER
William Badger, one of the old residents of the Township, died at his home about 
four miles north and west of town on Wednesday morning, March 1, after an 
illness that began about 40 years ago. The funeral will be held from the home at 
one o'clock this afternoon, conducted by Rev. Skentelbury, and then the remains 
will be interred in Lakeside.

Mr. Badger was born in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, Nov. 18, 1826, his father's 
name being Thomas Badger. At the age of about three years, his parents moved to 
Ohio. Here he grew to manhood on a farm with his parent, and was then married to 
Miss Sarah Ann Frank. Mr.Badger farmed and bought stock after his marriage, and 
it was in Ohio that his family of six children were born, on a farm near 
Findley. Not long after his marriage be bought a farm in Michigan, the farm on 
which he has lived while in this state, but he did not move his family here 
until for nearly seventeen years afterwards, then all came and they settled on 
the place that has since been home, twenty-five years ago the latter part of 
this month. All of the six children born to Mr and Mrs Badger are living today 
but one son, who died in infancy. The children have none of them been far away 
from the parental home at any time, and have kept a watchful vigil over the old 
folks in their declining years. The family left with the mother to mourn the 
loss of the dear one, is Mrs.L.H.Heaton, Mrs.Frank Stockford, the Misses Mae and 
Ada Badger of this village, and Mrs E.L. Probert, of Grand Rapids.

As has been previously said, for more than 40 years deceased has been a sufferer 
from Asthma, which has in the most of this time made an invalid of him, and 
caused him untold sufferings, but all of which he has borne with patience. Not 
withstanding his long and trying illness he attained more than the allotted span 
of life. The long illness has made the man almost a stranger but to his family 
and the neighbors who have called from time to time' however, h is spoken of as 
a pleasant and kindly gentleman, and always kind and considerate for the welfare 
of the near and dear ones.

The Wave extends its sincerest sympathy to the bereaved ones.
