Baker, 73, of Ionia passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2003. She was born on April 27, 1929 in Sheridan Township, the daughter of Verne and Louise (Mosey) Meeker. Alice graduated from Remus High School. She married Walter Baker on June 11, 1949 in Angola, Indiana and he preceded her in death in 1996 after 47 years of marriage. She was an outstanding and loving wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her Blue Grass Music, bowling and taking her grandchildren bowling. She was a longtime manager of the Extruded Metal Credit Union in Belding and a member of the Ionia Women of the Moose. Mrs. Baker was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter-in-law, Lois Baker; brother, Wayne; sisters, Beulah, Evelyn, and Nina. She is survived by her five sons, Robert W. of Ionia, Dennis G. of Dickson, Tennessee, Jack E. (Ida) of Ionia, Richard (Amy) of Carson City, and Tom of Ionia; 10 grandchildren, Jason, Scott and Ryan Baker; Jeb, Jamie, and Kasey Baker; Ryan Fox; Rick and Scott Barber and Holly Baker; two great- grandchildren, Emily and Bailey Fox, sisters, Jeanette (Gene) Ross of Portage, Edna (Bob) Carpenter of Big Rapids, Joanne Willis of Ferndale and Betty Taylor of Barryton; brothers, Floyd (Ilene) Meeker of Remus, James (Norma) Meeker of Remus, Devern (Pat) Meeker of Rosebush, Vern Meeker of Mecosta; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. Kenneth Harger, Pastor of Shiloh Community Church at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Cook Chapel, 220 Rich Street, Ionia, with interment following at Easton Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday.
