The Ionia Standard, Tuesday, October 1, 1918
The remains of Mrs. F. M. Balcom will be brought to Ionia from Leslie on 
Wednesday (tomorrow) morning, and the funeral will be from the Presbyterian 
church at 2:30 in the afternoon.

The Ionia Standard, Friday, October 4, 1918

Mrs. Abbie, widow of the late Frank M. Balcom, whose home for so many years 
was in Ionia, died on Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Burton 
Shoesmith, at Leslie, Michigan, of apoplexy.  The remains arrived her Monday 
afternoon.  Funeral was held on Tuesday afternoon, from the Presbyterian 
church, at 2:30.
