BANKER BABY DIES EFFECTS OF BURNS
Child of Missionaries to India. Funeral at Calvary Church

Friday morning as Mrs.F.E. Banker was arranging to give her little baby daughter 
Genevieve Frances a bath in the bath tub, the little girl fell in and received 
burns that were the cause of her death Sunday evening, at Bronson hospital.

Mrs. Banker was visiting her sister Mrs.York Duffey of Kalamazoo when the 
accident happened. Mrs.Banker and baby were both standing by the tub when the 
mother turned around for a towel or garment and the baby slipped into the tub. 
She was instantly caught up by the mother and the usual first aid was 
administered. As the water was not very hot the child was not thought to be 
seriously burned. A physician was called and the child was taken to the hospital 
at his suggestion, although he did not deem the child's condition critical, the 
burns not being deep nor covering much surface.

Every hope was held out for is recovery but either from burns or shock or both 
the little child drooped and the spirit flew away Sunday evening to be with its 
God.

The father who was in the western part of the state of New York attending 
Missionary meetings started immediately and arrived at noon Monday.

The remains were brought to the home of its grandparents Mr and Mrs Burt Rodgers 
of this place and the funeral was held at the Calvary United Brethren Church, 
Tuesday afternoon.

The sermon was by Rev. R.E. Durkee of Lansing, uncle of the parents, prayer and 
Scripture by Rev. F.F.McCarty, general secretary of the foreign missionary work 
of the Wesleyan church; Mr and Mrs.R.W. Goodemoot sang "We Shall Meet Them By 
and By." Miss Helen Goodsell gave the instrumental selections. Burial was at 
Lakeside Cemetery.
