Portland Review & Observers-June 4, 1976

RICHARD BARNES
Richard J. Barnes, Sr., 77, of Divine hwy., died Tuesday 9May 25) at his home.

He was born June 25, 1898 in Portland Township, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Barnes.

Surviving are his wife, Lucille, of Portland; two sons: Richard Barnes, Jr. of
Greenville and Gary Barnes, of Portland; and two step-daughters: Mrs. Joanne Gree of Portland and
Mrs. Carol Church of Grand Ledge.

Other survivors include two sisters: Mrs. Ruth Larde of Lansing and Mrs. Marion
Adgate of Clarksville, Tenn; plus nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Mr. Barnes was a veteran of World War I, a charter member of the Portland V.F.W.
Post 4080 and a member of the American Legion Dale Hyland Post No. 129.

Funeral services were held Saturday (May 29) at the Neller Funeral Home. The Rev.
Harold Homer officiated. Burial was in the Portland Cemetery.
