The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Thursday, July 1, 1948
Miss Ella Benedict, 68, died at her home, 330 Harter street, Wednesday 
afternoon at 5 p.m. after a prolonged illness.  She was born in Orange October 
14, 1880, the daughter of Abel F. and Harriett Benedict.  Miss Benedict had 
resided in Ionia city for 28 years.  

Surviving her are two brothers, Dr. L. D. Benedict of Ionia, and Ira Benedict 
of Glendale, California, two sisters, Hattie Benedict and Mrs. Herbert Smith 
of Ionia.  

Services will be conducted from Myers funeral home Friday afternoon at 2:30 
o’clock by the Rev. Howard Johnson, pastor of the Lincoln Avenue Baptist 
church.  Interment will be in Balcom cemetery.
