SENTINEL STANDARD, IONIA, Friday, May 29, 1998:  "Helen Bennett, 85, of Berlin
Twp., died Wednesday, May 27, at St. Lawrence Hospital in Lansing.
   Helen Rowley was born August 18, 1912 in Easton Twp., the daughter of Ford
and Pearl (Palmiter) Rowley.  She grew up in Ionia, graduating from Ionia High
School and Western Michigan University.  She was married to Carl L. Bennett in
Angola, Ind. on June 7, 1934.  Helen taught for the Ionia area school system for
many years, retiring in June of 1975.  She was a member of the Antlerettes and
the local Ionia chapter of the Michigan Education Association.  She also
attended the Berlin Center Methodist Church and was an accomplished artist.
   She is survived by two sons, Carl (Joanne) Bennett of Haslett and Russell
Bennett of Panama; eight grandchildren, Mark, Tom, Steven, Pattie and Russell,
Jr., Bennett, Elizabeth Howell, Craig Wandel, and Elaine Edwards; nin
great-grandchildren; one sister, Beatrice Rathburn; several nieces and nephews.
   She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carol on Sept. 12,
1995; one daughter, Beverley Wandel; one brother, Kenneth Rowley.
   Funeral services for Helen Bennett will be Tuesday, June 2, at 11 a.m. from
the Cook Funeral Home, Rich Street Chapel, in Ionia, with Rev. David Flagel of
the Berlin Center United Methodist Church officiating.  Interment will be at
Balcom Cemetery.
   Visitation will be Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the
funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's
Association, West Central Michigan Chapter, or the Berlin Center Methodist
Church.  Envelopes are available at the funeral home." 
   Per funeral card:  Pallbearers were Mark, Tom, Steve, Russell Bennett, Jr.,
Jim and David Rowley.
