JAMES BENNETT, 54
James David Bennett, 5, of Ionia, passed away Jan. 19, 2018, after an eight-year
battle with cancer.

He was born May 30, 1963, in Ionia, the son of Charles and Deanna "Jean" (Stedman) 
Bennett, Jim  married Linda Colwell Aug. 11, 1984 in Ionia.

He retired from General Motors after 28 years of service. Jim enjoyed bowling,
dirt-track racing, woodworking, camping, bud light, Winston cigarettes and fireball. He enjoyed
going for rides on his Harley and in his Corvette.  Jim's favorite phrase was I am just
going to "Send it."

He will be deeply missed by his wife of 33 years, Linda Bennett of Ionia; sons,
Brent and Ryan Bennett of Ionia; mother and step-father, Jean and Dann Werner of Ionia;
sister, Tammy (James) Lewis; step-sisters, Brandi (Andy) VanDeusen, Heather (Jeff) Cooper; 
step-brother, Heath (Jenny) Werner; mother-in-law, Janet Colwell; brother-in-law,
Dave (Amelia) Colwell; sister-in-law, Carol Colwell; Special "Ma", LaVon Fisk; special
son A.J. Ward; and his son Kraton; nephews, Grant Werner, Gavin Werner and Cal Cooper;
nieces, Jessica Lewis,Jennifer Lewis, Brianne Colwell, Clair Cooper and Breckyn.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Charles Bennett; father-in-law, George
Colwell brother-in-law Brian Colwell and his grandparents.

Funeral services for Jim will be Wednesday, Jan. 24, 11 a.m. at the Lake funeral
Home in Ionia with Pastor Cliff Allen officiating. Interment Balcom Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Tuesday 2-6 p.m. at the funeral home. Please dress casual.
