Ionia Daily Sentinel, 16 Dec 1957

Mrs. Carrie M. Benson, 93, died Saturday at 2:15 p.m. at the Ionia rest home
where she had been a patient for the past three years.  She was born January 31,
1864 in Pulaski and was a daughter of Jacob and Mary (Collar) Thorne.

Married in December of 1893 to William F. Benson at Ada, they spent most of
their married life in the Maple Rapids area.  After Mr. Benson’s death in 1943,
Mrs. Benson spent most of the time with her children.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Hollis (Ethelyn) Chase of Lake Odessa; three
sons, Oliver of Lansing, Clarence of Clark Mills, New York and William of Mason;
two brothers, Richard Thorne of Jackson and John Thorne of Lansing; eight
grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The body will be at the Pickens funeral chapel where services will be held
Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.  Graveside services and burial will be at 1:30 p.m. at
Sowles cemetery near Maple Rapids.
