The Ionia Daily Standard, Monday, March 14, 1904
The Detroit Evening News prints a portrait of the late Mrs. Honora Brown, with 
the following notice of her death:

Mrs. Honora Brown, widow of the late John J. Brown, an early settler of the 
city of Ionia, Mich., passed away at Harper hospital yesterday, at the age of 
80 years.  Mrs. Brown entered the institution Oct. 21, 1901, and remained 
there until her death, which was due to heart failure.  She was the mother of 
John J. Brown, Jr., an old newspaper man and owner of many suburban papers, 
including the Dearborn Independent, the Royal Oak Tribune, the Hamtramck News 
and the Gratiot Gazette.  Until she was removed to the hospital, she made her 
home with her son’s family at 975 Twelfth street.  

The funeral services will be held from St. Leo’s church Monday morning and 
interment will be at Ionia beside the grave of her husband, who died 14 years 
ago.
