Mrs. Darnell was born in Ratbriland, County Down, Ireland, November 16, 1826. Her maiden name was Elizabeth Wallace. She lived in Ireland until 24 year of age, when she set sail for America. She settled in New York; there she lived until married at the age of 36 years. Four years after with her husband and family she moved to Michigan settling in Berlin township, where she spent the remainder of her days. She was the mother of two children, Wm. J. and Henry B. Darnell, both surviving her. Wm. J. lives in Wyoming while Henry resides on the old homestead. Deceased was a much thought of lady, having lived in Berlin so long she naturally had a wide circle of friends, among whom she was held in the highest esteem.
