Karen Ruth Dennis, 62, of Carson City, formerly of Ionia, passed away Friday, 
January 16, 2004 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing.  

Karen was born June 24, 1941 in New Castle, Pennsylvania, the daughter of 
George and Ruth (Marcussen) Slowinski.  She lived in the Ionia area most of 
her life and moved to Carson City 15 months ago.  She was a graduate of Saints 
Peter and Paul Catholic School in Ionia.  She worked as a caregiver in several 
nursing homes and in her free time she enjoyed doing arts and craft work.

She is survived by one son, David Dennis of Carson City; one brother, George 
(Patricia) Slowinski of Parma, Ohio; two god daughters, Maria and Desira 
Holmes of Belton, Texas.  Also two nephews, Steve (Sue) Slowinski of 
Baltimore, Maryland and Greg (Marsha) Slowinski of Moore Park, California; and 
two great-nephews.  Karen was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial services were held Monday at Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home in Carson 
City with Rev. Ken Nash of the United Methodist Church in Carson City 
officiating.  Visitation was also held Monday.
