MILITARY FUNERAL FOR CLARENCE EUPER
There will be a military funeral for Clarence Euper this (Friday) afternoon at 2 
o'clock in the grove.

The body arrived Wednesday evening, accompanied by U.S. guards and was take to 
Weed's undertaking rooms where it remained until the funeral this afternoon.

This young soldier went from Camp Custer to a camp in Texas and from there 
sailed for England, where he was taken to a hospital upon his arrival and died 
soon after of pneumonia, June 24, 1918.

MILITARY FUNERAL FOR CLARENCE EUPER BY AMERICAN LEGION
Beautiful Ceremony-Many Flowers 
         Buried at Lake Side
The funeral for Clarence Euper was held in the grove last Friday afternoon. The 
casket was carried on a truck decorated in the National colors and the American 
flag covered the casket and this was covered with beautiful flowers.

The Boy Scouts played a dirge. the Chaplain, Herbert Lake and Commander Aubrey 
Davis of LaVerne Demaray Post American Legion gave the prayer and read the 
service.

Rev. H.I. Voelker, presiding elder of the Evangelical church gave a splendid 
stiring address and the pastor,  Rev. Hettler made a prayer. Rev. H.H. Stessman 
of Ionia, a former pastor read the obituary.

The body was under national escort to the cemetery and the usual military 
service with the final salute fired ad the last bugle call were given. The body 
rests beside his brother in the family lot.

                                 IN MEMORIAM

He is resting tonight in the homeland, He is home from a foreign shore, And his 
body is peacefully sleeping And the soul is a Home evermore.
He had lain wear years, in old England, And tho it was beautiful there There was 
longing to feel him near to us, Back at home with the loved ones who care.
So he rest by the side  of his brother, Both sleeping so peacefully here; And 
altho we mourn their departure, We rejoice that they both can be near.
Near to us who loved them and lost them, Lost to earth, tho the're resting with 
God; And we lovingly, gladly will cover The flowers of love o'er the sod.
Yes, he's resting tonight in the homeland; And w thank thee, kind Father o Love. 
We will love and we'll cherish his mem'ry "Till thou callest to meet him above.

We desire to express our appreciation to our relatives and friends for their 
many acts of kindness shown us at the time of the burial of the remains of our 
son and brother, Clarence. Especially do we thank the American Legion, Boy 
Scouts. male Quartette, Business Men, those who sent flowers, and the Ministers.
