FR. DONALD FARRELL
Funeral services for Fr. Donald Farrell, 57, one time assistant priest at SS. Peter
and Paul Catholic church were December 30, at 1 a.m. at St. Andrews Cathedral in Grand
Rapids. Interment was at Woodlawn cemetery in Grand Rapids.

Fr. Farrell died December 26 at Holmes Beach, Fla.. He was born April 6, 1912 the
son of Edward J. and Nellie Callan Farrell. He attended St. Andrews elementary school in
Grand Rapids and St. Joseph seminary. He also attended St. Louis preparatory seminary at
St. Louis, Mo. and continued his studies at St. Gregory and St. Marys seminaries in
Cincinnati, Ohio and received his bachelor of arts degree from St. Gregory.

Ordained April 24, 1938, He was conferred by Bishop Pinten at St. Andrews Cathedral
in Grand Rapids.He served as assistant priest at the following parishes, Sacred Hearts
at Mt. Pleasant, SS. Peter and Paul in Ionia, St. Francis Xavier at Grand Rapids. He was
appointed administrator of the following parishes, St. Francis Xavier in Grand Rapids, St. 
Joseph, Belding and St. Edwards, Lake Odessa.

Due to ill health he resigned from the Ada parish October 31, 1966 and until the
time of death made his home at Holmes Beach, Fla.

Surviving are a brother, Fr. Edmond J. Farrell, pastor of St. Patrick's church at
Parnell, and a sister, Mrs. Joseph Plese of Grand Rapids.
