He was a graduate of high school and of Glenn City business college of Quincy, ill. At the age of nine years he was received in the Methodist church and at the age of 17 he was a choir member and a steward of the church and remained in this work 34 years continuously. He was president of Green County Sunday School association three years and served on the local school board as secretary for a number of years. On September 19, 1897 he was married to Miss Ella Reno who was called by death March 3, 1922. Four children were born to them, Anna, Louie, Fred and Landon. He came to Michigan and purchased the present home in 1928 and was married September 19, 1928 to Mrs. Laura B. Dorman. They lived a quiet, happy life until he was called home. He leaves to mourn the loss of a loving husband and father, the widow, two daughters and two sons. He was laid to rest in a private mausoleum at Lakeside cemetery. I know not the way I am going But well do I know my guide, And all I ask as I walk by His side, Is that He hold my hand fast And bring me safe home at last.
