Former Ionia resident, Larry K. Geisel, 71, died Sept. 10, 2012 in Tucson, 
Ariz., at St. Mary's Hospital after a long battle with cancer. Mr. Geisel was 
the son of deceased residents Kenneth and Pauline Geisel.

Mr. Geisel is survived by his wife of 48 years Ronda, sons, Kurt (Marie) of 
Redmond, Washington, Steve (Laura) Kona, Hawaii and daughter Krista (David) of 
Oklahoma City. He had four grandchildren.

A nationally recognized business development consultant and company, start-up 
innovator, Geisel had a successful 30-year career in creating technological, 
educational and communications companies that affected major changes in each 
area of endeavor. Responsible for launching Summit Information Systems in 1978, 
to guiding Netscape during the rapid expansion of the Internet, to shepherding 
the innovative Air Well Water, Inc. system of providing water for third world 
countries. Geisel's clear vision was a benchmark for building successful, 
contemporary, global organizations.

Mr. Geisel graduated from Arizona State University with multiple Bachelors and 
Masters degrees in Engineering and Astronautical Engineering in three semesters 
achieving Summa Cum Laude distinction and honors from honors from Phi Kappa 
Phi, Tau Bata Phi and Pi Tau Sigma.

A family memorial was held Sept. 15 per Mr. Geisel's request, remains were 
cremated.
