Hanline, 68, of Ionia suffered a fatal heart attack at his home at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Born in Bowling Green, Ohio, September 3, 1904, he was the son of Thomas and Mamie Welsh Hanline. The family moved to Coleman where he lived and attended schools. He married Carrie Salisbury, June 20, 1926 in Ionia and they made their home in the Ionia area. They lived the past 37 years on East Washington at Prairie Creek. He worked at Ionia pottery, Ypsilanti Reed Furniture Co., Ionia County Road Commission in1950 and retired in 1969. Surviving is his wife, Carrie; four sons, Robert of McBride, Donald of Muir, Samuel and Gerald of Ionia; 17 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sister, Mrs. John Shamp of Ionia; two half brothers, George and Ira Hanline of Ionia. Funeral services will be Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. at Leddick funeral home. Rev. John T. Hadley of First Baptist church of Evans City, Penn., will officiate. Interment will be at Balcom cemetery. Family will be at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. to receive friends and relatives. A memorial fund has been established for the cardiac unit of Ionia County Memorial hospital.
