Mrs. Cassie Haskins, 51, wife of Grover Haskins, of Grand Rapids, died Thursday
morning at the St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Rapids, following a week’s illness
of pneumonia.  Mrs. Haskins was born in Ionia County and was the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Thomas Branson.  She was graduated from the Saranac high school in 1903
and from Ferris Institute in 1905 and taught in rural schools for nine years in
Ionia County.  She was married to Grover Haskins, of Saranac in 1906 and lived
for a time in Berlin Township later moving to Saranac.  The family moved to
Grand Rapids 12 years ago.

Surviving Mrs. Haskins are her husband, three children, Mrs. Joseph Shepard,
Thayer and Fred Branson, of Berlin Township.

Mrs. Haskins was an active worker in the Rebekah lodge Saranac, a member of the
Past Noble Grands and a member of the Saranac school alumni association.

Funeral services will be conducted from the home, 855 Jackson St., NW, Grand
Rapids, Sunday afternoon at 1 o’clock and from the Congregational church in
Saranac at 3 o’clock with burial at the Saranac Cemetery.  Rev. DeVries, pastor
of the First Evangelical church of Grand Rapids will officiate.

Final rites were held Sunday afternoon, May 12, for Mrs. Grover Haskins at the
residence in Grand Rapids, at 1 o’clock and at 3 o’clock from the Congregational
church in Saranac with Rev. DeVries, of the Evangelical church, of Grand Rapids,
assisted by Rev. E.H. Humphrey of Saranac, officiating.  Because of Mrs.
Haskins’ associations in lodges, school and church work, the service was one of
the largest ever held in Saranac.

Musical numbers were furnished by Mrs. Winiefred Hoogeborn, Mrs. Amon and Mrs.
Opal Hamilton of the Evangelical church of Grand Rapids.  Floral arrangements
were in charge of Mrs. Arthur Darrow, of Ionia, Mrs. Squires and Mrs. Marble, of
Grand Rapids.  Bearers at the home in Grand Rapids were Adolph Schultz, Allie
Schultz, Michael Rice, Albert Smith, Leo Gaca and Peter Mocaska.  Bearers at the
church at Saranac were Claude Branson, Earl Herron, Hal Patrick, Thomas Arthur,
Penn Patrick and John Branson.

The Saranac chapter of the Rebekah Lodge held their service at the church. 
Interment at the family lot at Saranac Cemetery.
