Ionia Sentinel-Standard - Sat. Nov. 30, 1991

IONIA- L.A. Russell (Bud) Helmer, 66, died Thursday at the Ionia Manor. He was 
born, March 5, 1925, in Barryton to Glen and Mind Good Helmer.

He worked for 34 years at General Tier in Ionia, retiring in March of 1987. He 
did carpenter work for many years.

He is survived by his wife Frances; his son, Dennis of Ionia, three 
grandchildren; five brothers; George, Thayne, Maynard and Don of Ionia, and 
Wayne of Lakeview; two sisters, Lorraine Cox of Ionia and Beverly Peterson of 
Belding; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father 
Glenn in 1974; his mother Mina in 1989; and his brother Larry in 1990.

funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, December 2 at the Cook Funeral 
Home of Ionia, with the Rev. Joe Fremer officiating.

Burial will be in Easton Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers are Earl Peterson Jr., Gary Peterson, Tim Peterson, Warren 
Wrisley, Dennis Helmer Jr., and Craig Helmer.

The family will be at Rich St. chapel, Ionia from 2-4 and 7-8:30 p.m., Sunday.

A memorial has been established for American Cancer Society, Ionia Chapter, in 
care of the funeral home.
