Shirley was born November 9, 1923 in Royal Oak, to Parr and Mary (Roy) Wing. She graduated from Royal Oak High School. She obtained a registered nurse RN degree from Sisters of Mercy Hospital in Detroit. She then married John Henry Hemming. Shirley worked as a family practice RN while living in Berkley. There she and her husband raised three children. She was an active Girl Scouts of American leader and Episcopal Church Sunday school teacher. She and her husband returned to Delton before she resided in Lake Odessa. There she helped with the local hospice and Red Cross blood mobile. Shirley is survived by her three children, Betty Gibson, Donna Caracostas and John Parr Hemming. There are seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband John and two brothers, James and Jack. A remembrance service will be held Saturday, May 30, 2009 at Central United Methodist Church in Lake Odessa.
