Wm. Hesse Dies Tuesday in Georgia Camp Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Hesse were advised late Tuesday night of the death at Camp Gordon, Georgia, of their son Pvt. William Hesse, who had been seriously ill there, but at last reports apparently recovering. His condition turned worse early Tuesday evening, and death followed at 11:00. Entered Service July 17 Private Hesse entered the service July 17, 1952, and was assigned to the signal corps school at Camp Gordon. He was taken seriously ill August 31, and underwent a series of operations there. His wife and parents were called there on Labor Day. His wife had been there since that time, the parents returning to Portland after a stay of 10 days, when his condition showed considerable improvement. Private Hesse was born in Saginaw 20 years ago. He came to Portland with his parents when Mr. Hesse opened his jewelry store here, and was a graduate of Portland high school. Shortly before his entry into service he was married to Miss Gloria Thorne, of Lansing. A sister, Mrs. A. Jay Fisher, lives in Saginaw. Funeral on Monday Funeral will be here at Neller Funeral Home Monday at 2:00 p.m. Officiating at the services will be Rev. Keith Avery, Portland Methodist Church, and Rev. Dr. N.C. Donald, First Methodist Church, of Ypsilanti. Burial will be in Portland.
