          HUGHES

Penny Lou Hughes (Deane)passed away peacefully on July 3, 2023, at Portland 
Assisted Living in Portland,MI. Penny was born October 17, 1956. She grew up in 
Lowell, Mi and moved to Ionia in the early 80s where she resided for over 40 
years with her husband Joe. She was an Avon representative for many years.

She loved flowers and birds and had many birds over the years.Penny was a member 
of the 7th Day Adventist Church in Ionia.Her love for the Lord was displayed in 
her joy and love for all people in her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joe Hughes, mother Bessie Deane, Father 
Charles Deane, brother Robert LaBine, Sisters Eva LaBine, Sally Miller, Maryanne 
Bursley, Violet Wagner and Rose Deane.

She will be missed dearly by her son Steven Deane, her sisters Jennie Deane, 
Kathy Orozco and brothers John LaBine, Art LaBine and Tom LaBine and many nieces 
and nephews.

A funeral service was held at 11 AM on Thursday,July 6, 2023, at the Lake 
Funeral Home in Ionia.Visitation took place one hour prior to the funeral from 
10-11 AM. A luncheon will e held at the 7th Day Adventist Church Gym at 12 PM 
located at 721 Elmwood Dr. Ionia (Corner of M66 and Elmwood Dr.). Online
