Jack, 75, one of Ionia's oldest business men who dropped dead suddenly Monday afternoon, will be conducted Thursday at 2:30 p.m. from the Stone funeral home on East Washington street. Rev. (illegible first name) Brady will officiate. Interment will be at Highland Park cemetery. Death came to the elderly man as he attempted to do some plumbing work on the third floor of his place of business. He suffered a heart attack. He had been in ill health for some time and had visited a doctor Monday morning for treatment. Charles Bascom Jack was born in Detroit, June 27, 1866, the son of William G. Jack and Ann Melisa Bascom Jack. He moved to Ionia with his parents when he was a small boy. He first was employed in the Ionia car shops and in 1899 he opened a bicycle shop. In 1900 he opened a second-hand store and has continued to operate it since that time. Surviving are wife, Edna Jack; one sister, Mrs. Henry Alberts, of Ionia; one son, Charles W. Jack, Jr. of Ionia; two daughters, Mrs. John C. Mathis of Wisconsin and Mrs. Leon A. McQuillan of Ionia. Also several grandchildren.
