Ionia Daily Sentinel Standard, 5 & 6 Nov 1934

Carey Mills Jeffery, 72 years of age, died suddenly Saturday evening while 
sitting in his automobile on North Steele street.  He was rushed to a physician 
but was dead when examined.  He had been in good health until about a week ago 
when he had a heart attack.  Saturday evening he returned to his automobile 
after getting some groceries and while sitting there with his little 
granddaughter was taken with another heart attack.  Mr. Jeffery was born in 
Niles in 1862 and spent his early married life in Grand Rapids.  They moved to 
Ionia about 20 years ago and made their home on Tower street.  Mrs. Jeffery’s 
death occurred in 1916, after which he moved to Waukesha, Wis., where he lived 
for eight years then returned to Ionia.  He had made his home with his two 
sons, Julius and Frank, at 864 West Main street.  He had been employed at the 
Stafford factory in the shipping department for some time.

Surviving are three sons, Joseph, at Muskegon Heights, Julius and Frank, of 
Ionia, a brother, Henry J. Jeffery, of Syracus, N. Y., and four grandchildren.  

Funeral services will be held from the Stone funeral home Wednesday afternoon 
at 2 o’clock with Rev. Paul L. Stewart officiating.  Interment at the family 
lot at Highland Park cemetery.

the Stone funeral home, at 2 o’clock.  Rev. Paul L. Stewart will read the 
service.  Interment will be held at the family lot at Highland Park cemetery.  
Mr. Jeffery’s death occurred Saturday evening, November 3, following a heart 
attack.
