He was born June 17, 1938, in Fulton Township the son of Joseph and Leona (McGraw) Kapustka. He was a graduate of St.Mary's High School in Carson City.He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from July 25, 1956, until his honorable discharge on July 24, 1958. Kenneth worked as the parts manager at JU Martin International Harvester dealer in Carson City for 30 year. He later worked as a Corrections Officer in Carson City, retiring in 2000, after 13 years of service. He also spent many years farming. Kenneth married Mary Bennett on February 27, 1960, at St. Patricks Catholic church in Portland, a blessed union of 63 years. Together they enjoyed traveling and attending their grandchildren's sporting events. He was a member of St.Mary's Catholic Church in Carson City. Kenneth enjoyed playing sports, especially baseball, softball, bowling and golf. He also enjoyed gardening and took great pride in keeping up with his yard work and landscaping. Kenneth was loyal to his family and community, helping others whenever he was able. He will be remembered for his story telling, sense of humor and his contagious laugh.He remained a humble man his entire life and will be deeply missed by all who loved him. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Neil(Heather) Kapustka, Karen (John) Viera, Mike(Ann) Kapustka; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, his siblings,John (Donna) Kapustka, Darlene (Roger)Barnes, Danny (Mary) Kapustka, Allen Kapustka, Jackie Unruh; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jill Schaeffer; his parents; and three sisters,Marilyn Wineland, Mary Lee Kapustka and Linda Pierce. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 1, 2023, at 11 a.m. at St.Mary's Catholic Church in Carson City with Fr.Steve Cron officiating. Interment will follow in MaryKnoll Cemetery, Carson City. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 30th from 1-4 pm at Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home, Carson City with a Rosary to be held at 3:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday from 10 a.m until the time of services at the church.Memorial contributions in Kenneth's memory may be made to St.Mary's Catholic Church or the Ionia County Commission on Aging.
