Betty Ann Knox, 74, of Portland passed away Jan. 3, 2012. She was born Dec. 6, 
1937 in Orange Township, the daughter of Harold and Bertha (Schlosser) 
Scheurer. She was married to Kendall Knox on May 31, 1955. Together they were 
dairy farmers in Portland for many years. In her retirement she enjoyed sewing, 
community service and volunteering at the library in Alabama and Alden. Her 
grandchildren will miss her sour cream cookies. Everyone will remember her 
smile and happy nature.

Betty was preceded in death by her brothers, Harold Scheurer and Jerry Scheurer.

She is survived by her husband, Kendall, and their daughters, Karen and Eilliam 
Moriarty, Beth and Tim Ingraham, Barb and Rick Balderson and Kathy and Arron 
Howatt; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Also surviving are her 
brother, John and Marie Scheurer; sister, Peggy and Joe Russman; and sisters-
in-law, Joyce Sergerlind and Jane Schrauben.

Cremation has taken place with a private burial. Arrangements by Lake Funeral 
Home in Ionia. Contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Sparrow Hospice
