Kohn, aged 78, died Friday at his home in Lansing. Mr. Kohn was a prominent farmer, seed grower and dairyman in Bloomer township, Montcalm county for 50 years. He was born June 2, 1885 in Otisco township and was a former Bloomer township supervisor and former member of the Montcalm county board of education. From 1951 through 1953, he served two terms in the House of Representatives, representing the Montcalm district. He also was the first corn hybridizer in the state and served as president and director of the Michigan Crop Improvement Assn. On Aug. 3, 1905, he was married to the former Inez Beedy who died in 1952. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Margaret) Hawley, Ionia and Mrs. Lawrence (Mary) Boomershine, Lansing; six grandsons and nine great grandchildren. Services were held Monday at St. Joseph’s Catholic church with the Rev. Fr. Charles E. Steves officiating. Burial was in River Ridge cemetery. Rosary was recited Sunday evening at the Huffman Funeral Home.
