She was born August 30, 1914 in Marquette the daughter of Emil and Ellie Ahopelto Wierikko. She was a past member of New Hope Lutheran Church in Farwell and St. Paul Lutheran Church in Evart. She was married in February 1934 in Marquette to J. Victor Maki. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, J. Victor Maki, in 1976; brothers, John, Henry and Karl; and sister, Lydia. Heidi is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and James Scott of Belding; grandchildren, James G. and Deb Scott of Belding, Gary Scott of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Jon and Carol Scott of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; great-grandchildren, Sarah and John Lebel, Heidi Scott, Emily Scott, James E. Scott, Ryan Scott; two great-great- granddaughters, Olivia and Brooklynne; and sister, Julia Karkanen of Zion, Illinois. Funeral services ate 11 a.m. Friday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding, with Pastor Scott Lindner of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Greenville officiating. Interment is 1 p.m. Saturday in Limestone Cemetery, Chatham. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Ionia Area Hospice, Ionia County commission on Aging or to a charity of one’s choice.
