Jessie A. Martin, age 89, of Ionia, passed away Friday, August 6, 2004 in 
Ionia.  She was born August 28, 1914 in Ionia, the daughter of Ralph and 
Florence (Burrows) Moore. She married Fred L. Martin November 11, 1934, who 
preceded her in death in 1963.

She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church. She worked at A & P in Ionia 
and Ionia Manufacturing, which changed names numerous times, until retiring in 
1977.  She helped her husband Fred coach Babe Ruth baseball. Her second 
husband, Ambrose, and she were gardeners, and she was her third husband 
Harry's fishing partner.

She is survived by her daughters, Deanna and Don Helmer of Ionia, Marcia McCoy 
of Ionia; grandchildren, Kate Helmer, Craig and Carol Helmer, Judy Becker, Dan 
and Mickie McCoy, Marc and Tami McCoy; great-grandchildren Michael Becker, 
Ashley Breimayer, Ashlyn Dormer, Justin Helmer, Kylie McCoy; step sons, George 
and Betty Stoddard of Auburn, Edward and Mary Stoddard of St. Mary's, Kansas, 
and their children; three sisters, Evelyn Waters of Ionia, Margaret (Tom) 
Westbrook of Ionia, and Geraldine (Warren) VanHetloo of Holland; and many 
nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Shiloh Community Church with Rev. Ken 
Harger officiating. Interment Easton Cemetery.  Visitation is 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. 
and 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Lake Funeral Home in Ionia.  Memorial 
contributions may be made to Ionia Area Hospice or Shiloh Community Church.
