The Ionia Daily Sentinel, Monday, September 26, 1904

Michael McElroy died on Sunday morning.  He suffered a stroke of paralysis 
about four weeks ago, and another one Saturday night, from which he did not 
rally.  His age was 79, and he was born in Ireland.  He came to Michigan 55 
years ago, settling first in Sebewa.  He moved to Ionia 30 years ago.  His 
wife and six children preceded him to the other side.  Two children survive: 
Mrs. Allen Cook and Mrs. Sarah Humphrey.  Funeral from Catholic church 
Wednesday morning.
