John R. Meabon, 73, of Belding, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, 
December 31, 2003.  He had proudly served in the U.S. Navy.

John was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather, an aunt and both 
uncles.  He is survived by daughter, Elizabeth “Beth” Meabon of 
Belding; “adopted” daughter, Dawn Marie Finkbeiner of Belding; aunt, Dorothy 
Stortz of Lansing; cousin, Randy Stortz of Lansing; former wife, Becky Dunlap 
of Belding; and a number of special friends from the American Legion in Belding 
and Luther Village in Grand Rapids.

A memorial service is 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Luther Village in the chapel 
located at 2000 32nd Street SE, Grand Rapids.  There will be a time of 
fellowship for John’s family and friends at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Belding 
American Legion.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung 
Association, Disabled American Veterans, Luther Village, Alvah N. Belding 
Library or to a charity of one’s choice.  The family is being served by Johnson-
Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding.
