CHURCH DIED. D. A."Bert" Mourer Passed Away Tuesday Evening After a Lingering Illness. Leaves Widow and Three Children. Loyal Christian After a lingering illness during which all help possible was given, Daniel Arbertus Mourer, better know as "Bert", a long-time resident of Lake Odessa, passed away Tuesday evening. Mr. Mourer was a valuable citizen., well-known and obliging and devoted to the church of his choice, the Liberal United Brethren church. He had the regard of his many friends, the respect of the village and the confidence of this Christian affiliation. Probably there are few houses in town that his electrical ability have not been required for repairs or wiring. The passing of a local useful man in any line is always deplored. Obituary Daniel Arbertus Mourer, familiarly known as Bert, was the son of the Rev. Isaac H. and Marie Wight Mourer, and was born January 8, 1869, in Odessa township. Here he spent his childhood and youth, receiving his early education at the Beard school. Showing an interest in mechanics early in life he made and installed the first telephone to be used in this section of the state. He was united in holy matrimony on November 11, 1890, to Lulu Wachs. to this union came three children to bless the home, Mrs.ElReta Schroll of Greenville, Mich., Mrs. Elana cook, and Ogle Wachs Mourer, both of Lansing. Bert joined the West Odessa church at the age of seventeen. After selling his interest in the local telephone company he accepted work with the Pere Marquette railroad in the telephone and telegraph division. In this connection he served for 26 years, rising to position of chief inspector for the entire P.M. system, then he returned to this village that he might be at home and serve in the church which he had grown to greatly love. Mr. Mourer passed from this life October 12 after a long illness. Mr. Mourer was musical, being director of the music of the church for several years. He also was an adept on the musical saw. His services will be greatly missed in church work. He is survived by the widow and children, also to grandchildren, Donovan Shroll of Greenville, and Mrs. Claire mcKinney of Lansing; one brother, Louis C. Mourer, of Blanchard, and many other relatives and friends mourn with them in their loss. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. from the First United Brethren church with burial at Lakeside.
