The Ionia County News, Thursday, December 7, 1939

Mrs. Sarah Murray, 78, died at her home, 517 N. Jefferson street, at 6:30 
Thursday morning, December 7.  Although a semi-invalid for the past ten years 
she had been seriously ill only a day.

Sarah Hooper was born in Wedmore, Somerset Shire, England, April 21, 1861, and 
came to Michigan in 1883.  She was united in marriage with Dan Moon at 
Toronto, Canada, October 8, 1884.  They resided in Ionia where Mr. Moon died 
in June, 1915.  She then married James Murray of Ionia in 1921, and with the 
exception of three years spent in Pontiac, they resided in Ionia.  Surviving 
relatives are the husband, James Murray, three brothers, William and George 
Hooper, residing in England, and Thomas of Lexington, Oklahoma.

Rev. Earl Kneebone will conduct the funeral service which will be held from 
the home, at two o’clock Sunday afternoon, December 9.  Burial in Oak Hill 
cemetery.
