Mary Alice (Bunce) Newland, age 71, of Muir, passed away Sunday, November 30, 
2014.  She was born June 11, 1943 in Belding the daughter of Harold and Gladys 
(Benedict) Bunce. 

Mary married Robert Newland on September 5, 1961.  Together, they had six 
children; Cathy (Chuck) Purdy, Robert (Brenda) Newland II, Yvonne (Tim) Hodges, 
Jamie (Angie) Newland, Danny (Michelle) Newland, and Melissa (Kevin) Piggott; 
36 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her 
parents, Harold and Gladys (Benedict) Bunce; son-in-law, Gregory Purdy Sr. and 
grandson, Gregory Purdy Jr. 

A Memorial Service will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, 2014, at Lyons 
Baptist Church.  Visitation will be from 4:30 until the time of service.  Those 
wishing may make contributions in Mary’s name to the Lyons Baptist Church.
