Ionia Daily Sentinel, 9 Sep 1946

Harry E. Read died Saturday at his home on East Main street after a brief 
illness.  He was born February 19, 1868, in Norwich, England, and in 1923 was 
married to Rose Bennett, who died in October of 1939.  Mr. Read operated an 
electric shoe repair shop in Ionia for several years, and also worked at the 
Ypsilanti Reed.  He is a charter member of the Moose.

He is survived by two sons, Arthur Read of Norwich, England, and Ray Bennett; 
three daughters, Mrs. Gladys Hansbarger of Charlotte, Mrs. Betty Keller of 
Detroit, and Mrs. Hiram Darling of Ionia; a grandson, Lawrence Read, of 
Detroit, and a sister, Mrs. Emma Boughey.

Funeral services will be held from the Myers funeral home at 2 p.m. with the 
Rev. W. L. Cruthers officiating.  Interment will be at the Portland cemetery.
