JANIE LEONOR RODRIGUEZ
Lake Odessa - Janie Leonor Rodriguez 49, of Lake Odessa died Friday, of accidental 
injures.

Born Aug. 6, 1940, in Fowler, she was the daughter of John and Leonor Mercadanti
Vargas.. She was graduated from Lake Odessa High School in 1958.

She was married to Ray Guttierrez in 1964; that marriage was terminated by divorce.
She was married to Manuel Rodriguez in 1971 in Harrison. He survives.

She was a member of St. Edwards Church, the Church Altar Society, Tupper Lake
Extension Club, Lakewood community Volunteers, lake Odessa Planning Commission, Lakewood Band
Boosters, Parent Aid Program, and lake Odessa Centennial in 1987.

Surviving beside her husband Manuel are her children: Michael, Daniel and Becky 
Guttierrez, Kathy, Ramona, Vicky, and Michael Rodriguez; two grandchildren; five
sisters, Becky Galaviz and Susie Cooley of Lake Odessa; Agnes Bartlett of Mulliken. Elvira
Rivera and Estella Silva of Lansing; and a brother, Eli Vargas of Parr, Texas.

Her parents and one brother preceded her in death.

Funeral Mass will be Monday at 10 am at St. Edward's Church, the Rev. James Bozung 
officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery. Rosary will be said at 6 pm Sunday
at Koops Funeral Chapel, Lake Odessa. The family will be at the funeral chapel Saturday from
7-9 pm and Sunday from 2-4 pm and 6-9 pm.

A memorial has been established for the Lake Odessa Historical Society, in care of
the funeral chapel.
