Joe C. Schwab, 86, a resident of Schneider Manor, died Thursday, May 23, 2002 
at the Home of Hope.  Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton Thomas 
Schwab and Bertha Priscilla Schwennesen; his beloved wife Ione Jane Unseld, 
sister, Mildred Viola Kloosterman Bellows, brother Charley Lewis Schwab.

He is survived by sisters Dorothy Cleora Alderink and Beatrice Faye (Ward) 
VanDyke and many nieces and nephews.  Joe worked at the Sprayer Factory (Newell 
Manufacturing) in Lowell, for 20 years; he was a milk tester; he helped build 
the I-96 expressway by laying sod along the banks; he had a drapery business 
and planted Christmas trees on farms all over Michigan.  Joe was a member of 
the Saranac Community Church.

The family will meet relatives and friends from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday 
(Memorial Day) at the Lake Funeral Home, 158 Mill Street, Saranac.  A funeral 
service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Saranac Community Church, 125 
Bridge Street, Saranac, with the Rev. John Madvig officiating.  Interment at 
the South Boston Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of 
Michigan or the Saranac Community Church Food Pantry.
