Portland Review - March 4, 2007

After a very courageous battle with cancer, our warrior, Gail, 47, died 
peacefully Feb. 13, 2007 surrounded by her loving family and friends in Las 
Vegas, Nev.

Born in Lansing, Nov. 13, 1959 to Reymond and Joan (Stump) Thelen, Gail 
graduated from St. Johns High School in 1977. She moved to Merced, Calif. when 
she was 19 to pursue her nursing career. In 1994, she moved to Las Vegas to 
raise her family and advance her career.

Gail’s greatest times were those spent with her family, husband and best 
friend, Mark, son Jason (Ajai), daughters, Whitney, Ashley, Taylore, Reese and 
her grandson Jack, all in Las Vegas. She is also survived by her mother; 
sisters, Lisa and Rene (Bruce); brothers, Gary (Lori) Lynn, Dean, Erick 
(Stephanie), Todd (Stephanie), Robb (Jocelyn) and Brad. She will also be 
greatly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends 
whose constant cards, prayers and words of encouragement always put a smile on 
her face. She was preceded in death by her father, Reynold.

An avid runner, Gail continued to run in 5K races even during her final months. 
She loved spending t I me with her family, running early in the morning, so she 
could be home before they awoke. A devoted and extraordinary wife and mother, a 
common occurrence was to have her family surround her in bed, talking about 
their day, (high points and low points) their dreams, goals and aspirations.

Gail will always be remembered for her determination, her zest for life, her 
lover for chocolate and her nightly fix of ice cream. She was a strong 
independent woman who went after what she wanted and did not stop until she 
achieved her goals. She was an inspiration to all she met and will be sadly 
missed.

“And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count, but the life in 
your years.”

Services were held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Las Vegas on Feb. 16.
