Ionia Daily Sentinel Standard, 7 Aug 1925

News of the death of two well-known former Palo residents was passed around on
the fair grounds Friday – that of Fred Somers, which occurred at Pomona, Cal.,
Thursday, and also of Mrs. Emma Howarth, who passed away at the home near
Crystal, where she was being cared for.  She was the widow of the late John
Howarth.  The news of the death of Mr. Somers, who was also a former well-known
businessman in Ionia, came in a telegram to Dr. F.A. Hargrave, and was as
unexpected as it was shocking to the many relatives and friends of the family.
