Ionia Sentinel - 27 December 1921
Mrs. Charles Thayer, an old Ionia county resident, died at her home, 373 High 
Street, Sunday, December 25, after a long illness extending over many months.  
The funeral services were held this afternoon from the residence and interment 
was in Orleans cemetery.

Ms. Thayer had lived in Ionia nearly all of the past 31 years, and in Ionia 
county and Fairplains, Montcalm county, ever since coming to Michigan from her 
birthplace in Ohio as a child.  She was born in Ohio in 1852 and was not very 
old when she came with her parents and settled in Fairplains Township.  In 1867 
she was married to Mr. Freeman who died in 1888.  About 1891 she was married to 
Charles Thayer, who survives her. 
 
Of the family of 12 children but two are left, Mrs. T. C. Pierson of 
Minneapolis and R. L. Pierson of Orleans.  Three children survive Mrs. Thayer, 
Frank W. Freeman of Wideview, Saskatchewan; Mrs. George Gates of Owosso and 
Mrs. George Thayer of Ronald.  There are also surviving one grandson, four 
granddaughters and eight great-grandchildren.
