Ionia Sentinel, 24 Aug 1877

Died. – At the residence of his son-in-law, Mr. Wright McVeigh, in East Plains,
August 21, 1877, Samuel Vance, in the 95th year of his age.  Deceased was a
pensioner, of the war of 1812, and resided the greater part of his life in Yates
Co., N.Y., where his wife died a few years ago.  Since his wife’s death he has
lived among his children, of whom John Vance, William Vance, Andrew R. Vance,
Chauncey Vance, Madison R. Vance and Mrs. Wright McVeigh live on East Plains, in
this county.  Another son and daughter reside in the State of New York and one
daughter at White Water, Wisconsin.

[Transcriber's Note:  There is a notation on the obituary card that he was
buried in East Plains Cemetery.]
