Broad St. Dr. VanLoo was born in McBain, Mich., February 15, 1908 and had practiced medicine in Belding since 1934. in 1928 he graduated from Calvin College and from the University of Michigan Medical School in 1932, interning at St. Mary’s hospital, Grand Rapids. Before coming to Belding he worked one year at Ionia Reformatory and was a major in the U.S. Army during World War II. Dr. VanLoo was a member of Christian Reformed church, Belding, Ionia-Montcalm County Medical Society, Michigan State Medical Society, American Medical Association and the Washington Club. On November 27, 1935, he married Dorothy Mueller in Grand Rapids and she survives. Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Judy) Krampe, Belding, Martha, at home; two sons, Ted of Greenville, Tim at home; one sister, Mrs. Hiram Karsten; Grand Rapids; three brothers, Elbert Vanhetloo, Grand Rapids, William VanLoo, Grand Rapids, Carl VanLoo, Longmont, Colorado, one grandson. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Huffman Funeral Home with Rev. Peter Doot of the Christian Reformed church officiating. Burial was in River Ridge Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dr. Lloyd S. Duncan, Dr. Glenn W. House, Dr. Robert E. Rice, Dr. Don C. Pates, Dr. Louis E. Sanford, Dr. Charles E. Stevens. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Ionia-Montcalm Medical Society.
